What Is the Purpose of a Boost Controller?

A boost controller is an integral device in vehicles with turbocharger or supercharger, and its role entails control and adjustment to boost pressure levels. It involves regulating the level of boost pressure supplied by the turbocharger CTS-TR-1050 or supercharger to check that the given engine is operating safely and properly in various settings. 

The major function of a boost controller is to control the level of boost pressure on the engine and therefore the power output. It enables fine tuning to boost pressure on the engine, leading to increased power and torque, sharper throttle, and acceleration response. This control is particularly useful when fine-tuning the engine for diverse driving scenarios or desired power output. 

Boost controllers come in two main types: 

  • Manual
  • Electronic

The mechanical boost control is a rudimentary system that controls boost pressure by hand while electronic boost control is much more advanced and depends on electronic governors and sensors. Other than performance gains, the boost controller plays a critical role in preventing the engine from being damaged due to high boost pressure. It implies that the boost levels are kept at their best to prevent the engine from straining or developing problems like knocking or overheating.
